A group of medical students have taken another step towards their new career as they have been welcomed into the internship program at Bendigo Health this week. Participants will spend the next forty 52 weeks rotating and working in different parts of the hospital, putting the skills they have learned in the past six to seven years into their studies. Bendigo Health Intern training supervisor, Sanneil Mathias, said he looks forward to seeing what these doctors will soon bring to the organization. More news: Bendigo records over 200 COVID cases on Wednesday, January 12, 2022 “We will have our interns who complete 10 weeks in general medicine, 10 weeks in surgery, eight weeks in emergency medicine, and the rest of the time there to choose placements that can be completed in specialties other”. “One of the good things about Bendigo is that we are a big enough city that we can provide a lot of sub-disciplines for the trainees to take turns and try out, but we are not too big to get lost in the system.” So we can provide more personalized training as well. Interns get weekly training and are attached to their supervisor making it more country focused and inclusive. “We are looking forward to having all of our new interns here and seeing what they can do.” Other stories: Intern Dr. Lucas Phelps said he is looking forward to entering the job market after many years of studying. “I would be lying if I said there wasn’t a bit of stress, but after six or seven years of training, being able to start applying that training is really exciting,” he said. “We have to continue learning under the guidance of junior and senior doctors and nursing staff at Bendigo Health so we are very keen to get started.” Dr. Phelps said that after spending the last 18 months training in Bendigo, he was keen to step in with his emergency courses. “I get two emergency rotations and I’m excited about them,” he said. More news: Lifeline Central Victoria and Mallee for a domestic violence awareness session to build skills in the community “It’s a great place to practice our general skills and spend a lot of time with patients and consultants which is great.” I am starting from the surgery suite which is famous for a fast pace and exciting as well as being very challenging, so I am looking forward to it.” Dr. Matthias said there is a high percentage of interns who will have the opportunity to stay with Bendigo Health after the end of the program.” We tend to see close to 60 To 80 percent of interns continue to work with us after their time here,” he said. “One advantage is that this year we have had a lot of interns who were medical students with us and chose to come back. Other news: Bendigo residents finished 2021 with a record-breaking water use “and about 95 percent of this group were engaged in rural or regional health care as medical students, whether in Bendigo or in the surrounding areas.” What that means is that it helps us know that there is a passion for regional medicine and even if they go to Melbourne and do a little bit of training in the subspecialties, there is a huge chance that they will come back and that’s really exciting. Most likely to treat COVID-19 patients, interns will get this training built into the program.” The right things in this regard. We also want to make sure that the trainees have that experience and are able to treat these patients in a supervised manner.” Our journalists work hard to provide local services, even this is Telecom Egypt news.
