Glenville State College preservice teachers complete student teaching internships

Glenville, Virginia – Six students have completed their student internships at Glenville State College (GSC) during the fall 2021 semester.

Andrew Camp of Spencer, West Virginia completed his education as a student at Glenville State College. He completed his student education in Social Studies Education (5 adults) at Spencer Middle School with Joseph Cottrell and at Rowan County High School with Kim Froome. Dr. Gerda Combin and Dr. John Ivins were the supervisors of the GSC. He is the son of Amber and Robert Taylor of Spencer.

Morgan Golden of Berkeley Springs, West Virginia has completed teaching for her K-6 student at Warm Springs Middle School with Christina Rose and in Multi-Category Special Education (K-6) at Pleasant View Elementary where she worked as a counselor enrollment clinical teacher Summer McClintock. Dr. Gerda Combin was the supervisor of the GSC. She is the daughter of Kim and Kevin Golden of Berkeley Springs.

Cheyenna Henderson of Glenville, West Virginia has completed teaching for her student in Early Education (PreK-K) and Elementary Education (K-6) at Gilmer County Elementary School with Tanya Stewart and Rebecca Chesser. Dr. Shelley Ratliff was her supervisor for the GSC. She is the daughter of Richard Henderson of Little Birch, West Virginia, and Dawn Brown of Palmyra, Pennsylvania. Henderson resides in Glenville with her children, Kayumi, Kifah, and Silas.

Taylor MacLean of Camden, West Virginia has completed teaching her students in English Language Education (5-Adults) at Calhoun Middle/High School where she worked as a Clinical Enrollment Instructor with mentor Dr. Mary Jenner. Dr. Gerda Combin and Dr. Melody Wise were the supervisors of the GSC. She is the daughter of Brian and Lisa McClain of Camden.

Jessica Smar of Sutton, West Virginia has completed teaching her students in Early Education (PreK-K) and Elementary Education (K-6) at Burnsville Elementary School with Joyce Stump and in Special Education Multi-Category (K-6) at Robert L. Bland Middle School as a teacher Clinical Records with Mentor Amber Richards. Dr. Shelley Ratliff and Dr. Will Van were the supervisors of the GSC. She and her husband, Nathan, have three children, Andrew, Brihanna, and Austin.

Carissa Yuk of Grantsville, West Virginia completed her student education in Early Education (PreK-K) and Elementary Education (K-6) at Pleasant Hill Elementary School with Vicki Hardaway. Dr. Shelley Ratliff was her supervisor for the GSC. She is the daughter of Eddie and Donna Yuk of Grantsville. Yuak also received the Outstanding Student Award for Student Apprentice for the Fall 2021 Semester.

Senior Teacher Education students participate in an internship during the last semester at GSC. At the conclusion of the internship, students must complete a presentation demonstrating their mastery of the New Interstate Assessment and Support Consortium (InTASC) standards as well as the standards for their particular field of study.
