NASU, SSANU LAGOS STATE UNIVERSITY CHAPTER SUSPEND STRIKE

The Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) and Non Academic Staff Union (NASU), Lagos State University (LASU) Branch, as suspended the indefinite strike embark on over outstanding arrears of minimum wage and other demands on Thursday 25th of February, 2021.

The SSANU and NASU under the shield of the Joint Action Committee (JAC) had embarked on a nationwide strike on 5th of February, to subdue the federal government to address their demands.

NAN reports that SSANU and NASU of Lagos State University (LASU) Chapter, said that the workers suspended the ongoing strike to honour the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo Olu.

In a virtual meeting held on Wednesday 24th of February, 2021 with the Lagos State Government.

The virtual meeting was led by the commissioner for establishments, and the government appealed to workers to honour the governor by suspending the ongoing strike.

The government made it clear to us that, after the suspension of the strike, we can now go back to negotiation table with the government concerning the issues of outstanding arrears of minimum wage and other demands.

“Our believe is that the governor will fulfil all what he says.” Sanni said.

Public Relations Officer, Student Union, Lagos State University (LASU), Zaenab Adams, said that the students had yet to return to campus.

Ms. Adams said that LASU management would be meeting on Friday 26th of February, 2021 to discuss and announce resumption date for students so as to conclude examinations
