A gang of armed robbers specialised in using a 9-month-old pregnant woman to rob their victims were arrested by the Nigerian police in a failed operation in Benin, Edo State.
According to ZIONPAY, the spokesperson of the police, Chidi Nwabuzor, who confirmed the arrest explained how they operate.
“The two male suspects usually place the woman on the roadside pretending to be in labour for unsuspecting road users to stop and then they will attack and rob their victims.”
He further explain how they where arrested;
“A man driving a Toyota Car met the lady at M.M Way in Benin and stopped to help. The men later alighted and forced the man to drive to Upper SAKPOBA road where the car was snatched. The car was to be dismantled as spare parts for sale when the police from Ugbekun Division swooped in on them and arrested the suspects.”
The names of the robbers are Jumoke Akanbieme, Osagiede Izevbokun and Godfrey Okonide.
Pregnant Jumoke Akanbieme, when interrogated, claimed her man lured her into the crime.
The robbers will be charged to court next week.
