We have rescued 16,277 victims of Human trafficking – NAPTIP

The National Agency for Prohibition of Trafficking in Person (NAPTIP) says it has rescued 16,277 victims of human trafficking in the country.

Director-General of the NAPTIP Bashir Garba Muhammad disclosed this at the official inauguration of the Jigawa State task force on human trafficking.

He said since the creation of the agency in 2003, it has succeeded in rescuing 16,277 victims of human trafficking.

Muhammad explained that out of the number, 14,474 persons were Nigerians and 172 victims are from Jigawa State.

“We have rescued 16,277 human trafficking victims out of which 14,474 are Nigerians ”

“The problem of human trafficking has become a national and international concern especially with the large number of Nigeriains trapped in Sexual and labour exploitation in various Africans and European countries”

“We are collaborating with state Governor’s to strengthen the joint effort to stem the evils of human trafficking and irregular migration in the country”

Inaugurating the committee, Governor Muhammad Badaru Abubakar of Jigawa State promised to provide all the necessary assistance to address human trafficking in the state.
