Nigerian Singer, David Adeleke aka Davido, has explained why he did not get married to his lover, Chioma Rowland earlier this year.
Recall that Davido and Chioma have been in a relationship for a long time.
In 2019, the couple had announced their Introduction ceremony and there had been reports that the wedding would hold in 2020.
However, there has been no official wedding plans announcement since then.
In an interview with media personality, Ebuka Obi-Uchendu on Bounce Radio live, Davido finally disclosed why the wedding had been delayed.
According to the Fia singer, the wedding would have held in July 2020, but it had to be delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Davido added that for now, he wanted Chioma to focus on business while he works on his album.
In his words, “Honestly, Corona messed plans up because it was meant to be in July. I have decided it would be sometime next year.
“For now, I want her to work on her business while I work on my album and the kids. I want everything to balance first.”
The singer also opened up on how he met Chioma.
He said, “I have known Chioma for about seven years. We have been dating for about five years. Lati introduced me to Chioma. We went to the same school, Babcock University. We started as friends but I got so used to her and she got so used to me as well. She is a great cook as well.”
“I often say that I see my mother in Chioma. I did not grow up with my mother. I can hardly remember what happened when I was that young.”
Davido also disclosed how the birth of his first son changed him after two daughters.
He said, “With Chioma my fiancee it was crazy having Ifeanyi, being there through the whole nine months pregnancy, seeing all the stress of what women go through and seeing him come out,” he said.
He added, “It changed me a lot. You know with my daughters, you know girls always love their dads a lot but their mums teach them how to be women. But as a dad I gats train, my son, to know wetin he suppose to do and not do.”
On how he manages the relationship between his two baby mamas and fiancée, Davido said, “At the end of the day, all my kids are equal. Before my kids, we were all friends.
“I’m not going to sit here and tell you that we don’t argue or fight but it’s just that the love that we all have for our kids comes first. Imade and her sister talk every week.
“The other day Imade was with Ifeanyi, they were at grand pa’s house. It’s not easy but as a man, you gats make everybody happy.”
Davido also spoke about his mother during his interview.
He explained that when he was about 10 or 11 years old his mother died of cardiac arrest on his father’s birthday.
According to the Fem singer, his mother was not very ill before her demise.
“I was about 10 to 11 years old when she died. She died on my father’s birthday. Honestly, it was just cardiac arrest.
“Even if it was going to happen, I would not have known because I was about 10 or 11 years old. She was not really sick. She used to get sick once in a while but it was nothing serious.
